DR BRANWEN SPECTOR

Branwen is a Lecturer in Social Anthropology and Material and Visual Culture in the Department of Anthropology at University College London. Her work examines the politics of occupation, infrastructures, and social media use through the lens of mobility in the Middle East, where she conducted three years of ethnographic fieldwork. She lectures in Anthropological Methods and teaches on Political Anthropology and Urban Studies undergraduate programmes in both the UK and the Middle East. Branwen is the co-founder of The New Ethnographer and is the lead blog editor, chairs TNE’s conference panels, and manages the day to day operations. She is also the co-founder of the LSE Digital Ethnography Collective. Her working languages are Arabic and English.

DR CAITLIN PROCTER

Caitlin is a Max Weber Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. Her research examines the intersection of youth political participation and humanitarian protection in contexts of political violence in the Middle East. She has also published on methods of research with hard-to-reach youth and adolescents in contexts of violence and conflict. She has taught post-graduate level research methods and theoretical approaches to social anthropology. She earned her PhD from the University of Oxford in 2019, and has held a Research Fellowship at the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University. She has eight years of evaluation experience with UNHCR, UNICEF, UNRWA and multiple (I)NGOs across the Middle East, East Africa and Europe. Her working languages are English, French and Arabic.
